Bain Marie can develop three main types of faults:
- Heater element fault- heater can burn out. Symptoms- the unit is not warming up at all.
- Thermostat fault- thermostat can become faulty and don’t switch the unit on. In this case the terminals stay constantly open and not passing the electrical current to the heater. Symptoms: the unit is not warming up at all. The other thing that can happen is that thermostat terminals get stuck and will constantly pass the electrical current to the heater element. Symptoms: unit runs too hot.
Some manufacturers use simmerstats instead of thermostats but the faults symptoms remain same as with thermostats.
- drain tap fault- most common fault with the taps is that they don’t close properly and will leak.
